Touch

Touch rugby reflection – Term 2

This term in PE we have been learning about Touch Rugby.

Touch Rugby is played with 6 players on each team on the field at one time..

The field is 50 m wide x 70 m in length.

The equipment needed is a ball and cones.

Here are some of the rules:

1 Once you get touched you have to roll the ball

2 You can’t go out or its hand over

3 you can’t forward pass

4  Its five touches then hand over

5 Don’t drop the ball

One thing I improved at was my catching.

One thing I enjoyed was Being able to play with my friends

I could keep working on my passing

I enjoyed playing on the same team as my friends because they know how I play and they help me out whenever I do something wrong.

I always brought my PE gear to school

Out of 10, I would give myself a 9 for effort because I think I have really improved.

Chicken Leg Dissection

Kia ora, On Friday we did a dissection. We dissected a chicken leg. We had a look at Tendons, Muscles and Bones.

We used quite a few tools such as a scalpel and different dissection scissors.

First we took off the Skin. We peeled most of it off so that we could mainly see the muscles. When we could see the muscles we cut off the muscle and tried to find some tendons. One member of our group was cutting off the tendons by accident. So we grabbed the ones she cut off and was having a look at it. We then cut off most of the meat and had a look at the bone.

Practical- Pikelets

Yesterday we made pikelets.

We had to get used to being in the kitchen again and be sure to clean it thoroughly. These are the ingredients.

~Flour

~Baking powder

~Sugar

~Eggs

~Salt

~Milk

We had to sift the flour,  baking powder and salt together. Then I whisked the egg and sugar together until it had a lighter colour. Then we added the egg mixture to the dry mixture, Then added the milk to the batter that made it into a runny but too runny mixture.

Here are some examples of what they would have looked like if we had photos.

Classifying Life

  1. Bacteria and Protists are similar in that they both have cell types that have the ability to use energy and carry out basic life functions such as growth, reproduction and reproduction however, they are different as they Both are in different kingdoms. Bacteria is in Kingdom Monera and Protists are in Kingdom Protista.
  2. Fungi and plants are similar because Fungi and Plants are both eukaryotic organisms that have evolved from single cell organisms.  However, they are different as they both do different things. Plants are producers, they use the sun to make seed, cones etc:. Whereas Fungi decompose and decay matter.
  3. Plants and animals are similar in that they are both living things. They eat, respire, grow, excrete, reproduce, move and they are both sensitive to their environment. however, they are different as Plants are green and they live using sunlight, nutrients and carbon dioxide to make their own food while making photosynthesis. animals live by eating other organisms.

Hauora

Kia ora, Today I am going to cover the five areas of Te Whare Tapawha.

There are five areas of Te Whare Tapawha. The Five areas are called, Taha Hinengaro, Taha Whanau, Taha Tinana, Taha Wairua and Whenua. The four walls is a Māori concept about your personality and who you are as a human being. The 4 walls of a whare and whenua connect in a way that you feel yourself. The ways you can take care of your hauora are Being your self, eating and drinking healthy, staying fit, and not letting anybody get to you.

Ways you can take care of other peoples hauora is being kind to them, not bringing them down, checking up on them and sharing. Being assertive means that you have a strong and confident personality, and sometimes you can be a bit forceful. It is important that I take care of my hauora because I want to be a kind and caring person who loves myself and can take care of myself. Nga Mihi -Arabella

Hauora

One of my favourite activity’s we have done so far is playing duck duck goose outside. It was pretty funny and Fun. I understand Taha whanau the most, Because its about family and friends. I feel really connected to Taha whanau. I am most confused about Taha Hinengaro. I get it in a way but I dont really understand Taha hinengaro. I need to learn more about Taha Hinengaro so that I can understand it more. Have lovely rest of your day 🙂
